Personalised Training Plan
At Capability Physio, we believe that personalisation is the key to achieving your goals. Exercise Physiology focuses on creating personalised exercise plans tailored to your individual needs, with a strong emphasis on safe and effective training techniques.
During your initial consultation, our Exercise Physiologist will take the time to understand your goals, unique health concerns, or any injuries which you’ve sustained. It’s not just about getting fitter and stronger but keeping you accountable with variety and progressions to ensure you remain on track. Your strength and conditioning exercise plan will be continually adapted as you progress, ensuring you stay motivated and on track to reach your goals.
We once heard a patient say that they were passionate about their exercises…
we suspect it may have been a stretch.
What to Expect in Your Strength and Conditioning Session
Whilst your strength and conditioning plan will be tailored to you and your unique goals, you may see a variety of exercises, some of which can include:
- Resistance Training – Using weights or resistance bands to build muscle strength and endurance.
- Core and Stability Exercises – Focusing on your core muscles to improve posture, balance, and functional movement.
- Cardiovascular Training – Activities like cycling or brisk walking to improve cardiovascular health and endurance.
- Flexibility and Mobility Exercises – Targeting joint mobility and flexibility to enhance movement and prevent injury.
- Balance and Coordination – Helping to improve your coordination, reaction time, and overall body awareness.
Every exercise is carefully selected to align with your personal goals, and our team will guide you through each movement to ensure it’s performed safely and effectively. Whether you’re recovering from injury or striving towards a particular goal, we’re here to help you become the strongest, healthiest version of yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Exercise Physiology?
Exercise Physiology focuses on using exercise as a tool to improve health, strength, and functional ability. Unlike general fitness training, Exercise Physiologists create personalised exercise plans based on your unique goals, health needs, and physical capabilities. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing a chronic condition, or simply looking to improve your fitness, an Exercise Physiologist can guide you to safely reach your goals.
Do I need to be fit to start Strength and Conditioning?
This is a very common question but being ‘fit’ looks very different to everyone. No matter your current fitness level, Strength and Conditioning Exercise Physiology is designed to meet you where you are.
Our team will assess your goals and create a personalised plan tailored to you, whether you’re a beginner, returning to exercise after an injury, or training for a specific fitness goal. We’ll support you every step of the way!
What’s the difference between Strength and Conditioning and general physiotherapy?
While physiotherapy primarily focuses on treating injuries and improving movement after trauma, Strength and Conditioning Exercise Physiology is focused on optimising long-term health and performance. It combines exercise with education to help you build strength, improve endurance, and prevent injury, whether you’re recovering from an injury or aiming to increase overall fitness.
Exercise Physiology is also a completely different qualification so your Exercise Physiologist has undergone thorough training to ensure you receive the guidance you need in a safe, knowledgeable environment.
How will you tailor my exercise plan to my needs?
When you start with us, we’ll conduct an assessment to understand your fitness level, health history, and your unique goals. Based on this, we’ll develop a customised exercise plan that’s safe, effective, and aligned with your needs. As you progress, we’ll regularly adjust your plan to ensure continuous improvement and avoid plateaus.
What kinds of exercises will I be doing in my sessions?
In your Strength and Conditioning sessions, you may see a variety of exercises, including:
- Resistance training (weights and resistance bands) to build muscle
- Core and stability exercises to improve posture and balance
- Cardiovascular exercises for heart health and endurance
- Flexibility and mobility exercises to enhance movement and reduce injury risk
- Balance and coordination drills to improve body awareness and reaction time.
How long will it take to see results?
Results can vary depending on your goals, consistency, and current fitness level. With a science-based plan, which we will develop with you, we should start to see some changes immediately.
Many clients begin to notice improvements in strength, mobility, and energy levels within a few weeks, while others may take longer to see significant changes. Your personalised plan is designed to help you make steady progress, and your Exercise Physiologist will work closely with you to ensure you’re on track.
Do I need a referral to see an Exercise Physiologist?
You don’t need a referral to see an Exercise Physiologist at Capability Physio, but if you’re seeking treatment through insurance (e.g., NDIS, WorkCover), a referral from your GP or specialist may be required. Simply get in touch with us to discuss your situation, and we’ll guide you through the process.
Can I continue Strength and Conditioning if I have a chronic condition?
Absolutely! Exercise physiology can be incredibly beneficial for managing chronic conditions like arthritis, diabetes, or heart disease. Your exercise plan will be specifically tailored to your condition and ability, ensuring that the exercises are safe and effective while helping you improve overall health. We work with you to improve both strength and functionality in a way that fits your lifestyle.
Is Strength and Conditioning only for athletes?
Not at all! While Strength and Conditioning is often associated with athletes, it’s also ideal for anyone looking to improve overall health, increase strength, or prevent injuries. Whether you’re new to exercise, recovering from an injury, or looking to enhance your daily fitness, our team will create a customised plan that helps you reach your goals, whatever they may be.
How do I get started?
Getting started is simple! Just reach out to us to schedule an initial consultation. We’ll assess your goals, health history, and fitness level to create a personalised plan tailored specifically to you. From there, we’ll guide you through your journey to become the strongest, healthiest version of yourself.
